Phosphate rock (PR) is considered the cheapest P fertilizer. Phosphate rock sources may be of igneous or sedimentary origin. Results: In Egypt, the natural phosphate rock is located in Sebaiya (Nile Valley), Safaga (Red Sea), and Abu Tartur (Western Desert). The higher the organic matter contents in soil, the better dissolution of the PR.

The working sample was collected from the experimental mine of Abu Tartur plateau and prepared as an international standard (Phosphate-3 by the Nuclear Materials Authority) [1]. It represents the average composition of the main phosphate bed (9 m thick) belonging to the `Dowi Formation' of the Upper Cretaceous to Lower Tertiary age.
The experimental phosphate mine of abu Tartur has been recently placed into production. Some problems'have been encountered in maintai- ning grade control due to the differences between early block estimates and actual produ- ction grade. the Nile Valley, along the Red Sea Coast, on the Abu Tartur Plateau and in the Sinai (Said 1990). The Abu Tartur phos-phorite contains from 35 to 71% of phosphate minerals (most commonlyoftheapatitegroup)(El-Anwaretal.2019;Wassef 1977; Zidan 1998). The Egyptian phosphorites have been the subject of several studies due to their economic importance
After the signing, El-Molla affirmed that the project aims to maximise the phosphate reserves in Abu Tartur upon President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisis directives to increase investments in the mining sector and raise its contribution to the GDP. Abstract It is well known that the rare earth elements (REEs) incorporated in the crystal lattice of sedimentary apatite are commonly derived from ambient seawater. This study documents, for the first time, the possibility of mixed origin of apatite REEs present in the Egyptian Western Desert phosphorites, known as the Abu-Tartur phosphorites, one of …
